Day III: Pan African Activists Gathering
A presentation by Fadel Barro on the future of Afrikki started the third day’s activities. This was followed by breakout sessions focused on the role of activists and movements in the prosperity of Afrikki.
A second presentation was made by Fou Malade on the role of art in the struggle for social transformation. Malade reiterated music represents a culture and movement accessible and universal to all.
Breakout sessions exploring the impact of various art forms on social change followed. Four groups were organized; music moderated by Killa Ace and Thiat, theatre moderated by Antony Meya, painting moderated by Davis Tafari and writing moderated by Landry Kamga, Biheri and Sungu Oyoo.
A final panel moderated by Professor Said Abbas and comprised of Inam Kula and Aliou Sane as panelists marked the end of the day’s discussions, providing closing remarks on the event. The panelists called on all activists to unite under one vision in solidarity and remember the generational mission of liberating our people.
Resolutions and follow-up actions
- Development of a dedicated and safe communication platform for activists to reach Afrikki and vice versa.
- Expansion of efforts aimed at resource mobilization for activist movements, including the capacity building of grassroots movements.
- Refinement of a support platform/mechanism for activists in danger, bringing together professionals and resources as required including lawyers and mental health champions.
- Refinement of the intersectional African solidarity avenues to allow for collective action from movements all across Africa in support of individual/country causes.
- Collective support for Afrikki’s programs and vision for the future.
